Ancestor Reverence Project
Abstract: A collective Ancestor Celebration will happen at this year's Black Family Reunion to invite the spirit of our dearly departed to guide and support us, and to educate our community about our relationship with our respective lineages.
When: April 18th and 19th
Personnel: Jegbe (carpenter), Didakeje (coordinator), Dumola (educator), Orimidara (project consultant), Baba Fakorede (Egungun priest).
Events:
Friday April 18th.
The Children's Committee will have an arts and crafts session to make artistic table dressings that personify the ancestral spirit. A selected group of youth and elders will meet to go over the Ancestral Migration Map presentation.
Saturday April 19th
Set Up
A table will be set up in the living room. A map will be posted on the wall for presentation purposes. Congregates will be invited to send in digital images of their departed elders prior to being mounted and placed on the table. Decorations the children make will be displayed.
5 pm
The congregation will gather.
