no matter how far a river flows, it never forgets its source...
this year, i attended vodun days
Vodun Days does something essential and long overdue:
To bring Vodun into the open with dignity, clarity, legitimacy, and pride.
To bring Vodun into the open with dignity, clarity, legitimacy, and pride.
- It restores what was misrepresented.
- It corrects what was distorted.
- It shows Vodun as it is: living, organized, and inseparable from daily life.
- They come.
- They witness.
- They understand more clearly than before.
WHAT SOMETIMES HAPPENS NEXT
When I left Benin, Vodun Days did not feel like an ending.
It felt like a beginning!
Something precious was made visible. A new question had arisen:
How do I maintain this connection once the ceremonies end and return home?
For me, Vodun Days answered the question, What is Vodun, really?
That answer has lead naturally to another question:
How is Vodun lived—day after day—beyond the festival?

Oracular Women. Women drawn to African Traditional Religion not as performance, but as structure, mastery, and ownership—women interested in how power is held, not displayed.
Purpose Driven Men. Men who practice African Traditional Religion as an expression of visionary leadership, discipline, and lineage-based empowerment, rather than grandstanding or spectacle.
This experience is for people of African descent who understand that our culture is not to be consumed—it is to be continued, like any other aspect of family tradition.

A FINAL WORD
Today, African Traditional Religion is being restored to the public imagination. The Sacred Return shows how Orisa Lifestyle is lived—quietly, daily, and without spectacle. Some people attend rituals, ceremonies and festivals and feel complete. Others realize they are only beginning.
For them, this experience exists.
