What is the Oriki Challenge? 

A fun way to learn oriki and inspire others at the same time. This is a friendly competition to promote basic literacy among practitioners of Orisa Lifestyle in the USA. 

What Do You Win?

Suggested Format for Orisa Houses (i.e., Ile)
  1. The Oluwo or Olorisa will arrange 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards each month. 
  2. The Oluwo or Olorisa will share the name of the Oriki Master of the Month on the Oriki Awon Orisa Facebook fan page. 
  3. Each Oriki Master of the Month will join a monthly skype conference call to "show and prove." 
  4. In December 2013, top contestants will compete for the Annual Oriki Faceoff and one person win BRAGGING RIGHTS as the US Oriki Master!!!

Who Can Compete?

Guidelines:
  1. You must be registered (see entry form below)
  2. Yoruba cannot be your 1st language
  3. Legitimate holder of Oriki Awon Orisa material

  • If you're the head of an orisa house (i.e., an ile) and you want to promote basic ritual literacy among your godchildren and students, the Oriki Challenge is IDEAL.
  • If you're a member of an ile and you want to learn oriki and inspire others at the same time, the Oriki Challenge is IDEAL.
  • If you're not in an ile, but you really want to increase your basic ritual literacy, then the Oriki Challenge is IDEAL for you.
