Do Not Fear the Leopard

On the day he offered a leopard to his Ori
He was asked to offer one calabash, 2000 cowries, and one ajuwon
He heard about the offering and performed it 
All other Irunmole refused to offer 
They said they would offer once they reached the world
The Irunmole left Orunmila 
Orunmila waited and performed the offering 
As the Irunmole ventured toward the world 
They met a leopard in their path 
The leopard started to eat the Irunmole, one by one until it ate them all
Orunmila then started his journey into the world 
But before he met the leopard, a sudden rainfall began
This deterred the leopard from crouching in Orunmila's path 
Orunmila thus found safe passage  
In short time, when Orunmila almost entered the world 
The sudden rain stopped 
The leopard returned on its original path 
It smelled as if someone had traveled along the trail
The leopard began to track the smell until it finally reached Orunmila 
As the leopard moved to pounce on Orunmila from behind 
Immediately, Orunmila threw his net and trapped the leopard 
He rolled the leopard within the net 
He then hoisted it upon his head to continue his journey into the world
This was how the leopard scratched Orunmila on his head 
It is this scar from the leopard's claws that we see on Ikin today
